Battery Lightning Gold Update

Post Stop DWI we performed at 2 events over the last few weeks.  First up was the Wicked Extreme Showcase in Hartford, CT.  There we went 4-1 beating some very good Gold teams including the Hudson Valley Hurricanes by a score of 4-1.  Most importantly we have been playing in front of a vast number of college coaches from far and wide.

Next we headed to West Seneca for the first annual Can-Am Championship.  Things started shaky as on Friday night we started off with the Compuware 18U out of Detroit Michigan and fell 2-1.  Their pitcher was popping 63 pretty regularly according to the gun and we hit everything right at people.  Despite only getting the ball out of the infield once Compuware was able to push 2 runs across for the win.  After that very disappointing loss the girls rallied on Saturday going 3-0 vs all Canadian teams including Guelph Gators, Brantford Bobcats and finally the Brampton Blazers.  Brampton was looking for some revenge after losing to us at Stop DWI by a score of 12-3.  This time Brampton had some additonal players back including a pitcher that drew a lot of attention hitting mid-60's on the gun for the entire game.  Thankfully we didn't blink and jumped out 9-0 in the 3rd and 4th innings eventually winning 9-4.  On Sunday we opened up Championship play as the 5 seed and went 2-1.  We began the day by beating the NJ Rocks Gold then followed that with a close battle vs the Brantford Bobcats before pulling away in the end.  That presented us with a re-match of the Stop DWI Gold Bracket Championship vs the TC Tremors Gold.  Once again we fell short 4-1 as our defense made some uncharactersistic mistakes thus providing 3 runs to the Tremors.  We also stranded 8 runners in 4 innings and didn't take advantage of opportunity.  The TC tremors Gold went on to win their next 2 games and ultimately the Championship.

Next up...New England's Finest Showcase!
